Earlier a friend and I were talking about how we haven't seen too many bees this year. Then Maya and I went to the PB library to play in the sanbox and swings. I noticed a large amount of bees flying around the sand so I decided to study them a bit. They were digging tunnels in the sand and going in and out of them. WTF? Why? I only had my camera phone and it was pretty sunny so I couldn't even see what the heck I was taking pics of.

Growing up in PB we saw these all the time. They were all over my school, the parks, whatever. I think they're just sand bees... see, I'm so used to them I never questioned their existence. Maybe Wikipedia will know!
